Facebook no more the leader in App usage, Flurry.

Facebook the former dominator in iOS and Android, by time spent, has slipped its lead slightly.

The average U.S user spent approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes per day on smart phones in the first three months of this year, 
The average U.S. user spent an average of 2 hours and 42 minutes per day on mobile devices in the first three months of this year.. According to Flurry an app analytic service, in 2012 Facebook and Instagram acquired 17% of the overall time spent on mobile applications.
However, according to Flurry its share of time spent was 18% last year and at the same time the amount of time spent on other social apps shows an increase year over year from 24% to 28%, which shows lack of Facebook usage as compared to other social applications.
Recently, Facebook acquired WhatsApp, an very popular messaging application for 16 billion with another $3 billion kicked in for employees retention.
The social segment grew mainly by messaging applications, Instagram helped Facebook to maintain its postition. Its position will be even more cemented, if not increased, by the reach and time spent inside WhatsApp", as it is in the reports of the researcher notes.
Development of more standalone apps are in process by Facebook with the goal of providing more specific usage in hopes to boost and maintain engagement as well.
